Wormwood extracted oil is mainly used to make absinthe. Absinthe contains a lot of different plant ingredients but this one is its main ingredient. It should not be used for aromatherapy or internal use unless under strict medical supervision.

The Germans and Romans both used it in wine making as it can be drunk in the form of wine without the worries of any form of sickness and indigestion.

In the early 1990s it had been claimed scientifically that extracts from this plant can be used for treatments of malaria.

The oil is also popularly used within soaps, perfumes and different other kinds of cosmetics dues to its pleasant fragrance.

It is the supposed  hallucinatory ingredient contained in authentic absinthe.
