Essential Oil Reviews

There are many brands of essential oils out there and it can be confusing for a beginner to separate quality from junk. Below we cover some of the most popular brands of essential oils and review them to help you make a decision based on your needs.

Mountain Rose HerbsMountain Rose is perhaps the best and my most favorite essential oil provider. They have a wide range of quality essential oils at reasonable prices for the top-grade product you receive. They only sale through their own website to control quality and distribution. The oils are organic and produced in the best conditions possible. All the oils I have tried from Mountain Rose Herbs have been wonderful. Their tea tree oil works wonders on the skin and their lavender is a staple for all aromatherapy beginners.

Now Foods: These are what I refer to as “value essential oils”. The quality is decent enough to use for aromatherapy and skin use, but you are better off using a higher quality oil to obtain actual tangible benefits. They tend to be weak and burn quickly. However, if you are looking for great scent at a cheap price, Now is the way to go. They only tend to make the least expensive types of essential oils, so if you are looking upscale oils, you must look elsewhere.

Young Living: Young living is known for its hired sales consultants. The oils are marketed very strongly and are generally well received by their customers. Users rave about how fragrant their oils are and believe the benefits from the oils have actually been achieved. Some users on Amazon have complained that they received a knock-off version in the mail, with a fake label, however. Since they sell through multiple channels it is hard to control quality.

Aura Cacia: Their essential oils are a great bang for your buck. The quality is greater than that of Now Foods and the aromas from their oils are heavenly. They are widely distributed in health stores around the country and available online through many retailers including Amazon. I give them a four out five only because their oils are not all organic by default and there are not the absolute best in the category.

Rating: ★★★★

doTerra: This company is famous for their effective essential oil blends especially in use for arompatherapy. Reviews are mixed but generally very positive. The functional benefits enjoyed from their blends are numerous and make them unique in the industry. Try the Deep Blue Essential Oil Blend if you are looking for a delightful smell and a cure for muscle aches and pains.
