Rose Essential Oil is steam distilled from petals and is known as Rose Otto. Rose oil when extracted using solvents is known as Rose Absolute. It is much more costly to produce Rose Otto as it requires many more rose petals. Rose Absolute is not much used in aromatherapy as it may contain traces of harmful residual solvents. Nevertheless it has the hearty, intense aroma that is associated with roses.
