Being anti-inflammatory, balsam essential oil is used to relieve muscular aches and pains. It is also commonly used to soothe and rejuvenate the body, and to support respiratory function. It is strongly antimicrobial, as well as antiseptic and analgesic. It is an excellent decongestant and calms a spastic cough. Balsam fir essential oil stimulates the respiratory system, the immune system, the adrenal glands and the circulatory system.

Instructions for Use

Dilute at least 9 times to 1 with carrier oil. Massage into sore muscles or joints. Use in a diffuser or burner for aromatherapy.

History and Additional Information

Balsam is an oily oleoresin containing benzoic acid or cinnamic acid, distilled from the exudates of several different trees or shrubs.Balsam Oil is steam-distilled from fresh needles. Balsam fir oil is a nontoxic rodent repellent approved by the EPA. Other uses are as an air freshener, as incense and as Christmas trees. The resin can be turned into a glue for glasses and microscope slides.
