History and Additional Information
The essential oil of tsuga is extracted from an evergreen tree that is commonly found in Native America. It produces small needle like structures that are scattered on the ground below the branches. The tree is tall in height and tapers from the top in a pyramid shape. The bark and leaves of the tree are used in producing tea and other products.
The oil from tsuga is procured from steam distillation of needles and twigs of the tree.

Mountain Rose Herbs no longer sells Tsuga oil so perhaps you should remove their link….didn’t do me any good to go there. Thanks
Bonnie, thanks for the comment! They actually do sell it, it is just sold as Spruce Essential Oil (Tsuga canadensis) which is another more common name for tsuga. If you are looking for the more specific tsuga oil, Western Hemlock Fir Essential Oil, (a little tougher spruce variety to find) you can grab a vial from Oshadi, http://www.oshadhi.com/western-hemlock-fir-tsuga-heterophylla/
Is tsunga essential oil very very strong smelling? I recently bought a partial bottle of young living online and I swear it smells like vapo rub. I am concerned that the bottle is filled with something synthetic. Please help.
Hi Sarah,
Thanks for inquiring. This oil is produced from the needles and twigs of the plant and usually smells much like a Christmas tree. It would be hard for me to tell without smelling it myself. Althought I’ve only had positive experiences with YL, I have heard reports of people buying fake essential oils on Amazon or other online retailers, so be sure that you are buying directly from the manufacturer for quality control. The #1 brand I trust is Mountain Rose Herbs, I have never had a single issue with their oils. You can find a link above in this article for the oil, but it is sold as spruce essential oil (Tsuga canadensis).
