If you are considering using tea tee tree oil for acne, and are looking for a more natural cure for blemishes, you are in luck. Tea tree oil is one of the best essential oils for acne and blemishes.
How does it work?
Tea tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) benefits the skin by acting as an antimicrobial agent destroying bacteria and germs that live on and just below the skin’s surface. Terpinen-4-ol is the magical part of tea tree oil that works to keep your skin healthy by destroying the slow-growing bacterium that live in your skin causing breakouts.
Why use tea tree oil treatment instead of my face wash?
Many people prefer tea tree oil because it is less harsh than commercial brands of skin cleansers that contain harsh acids, and artificial ingredients. While tea tree oil may take longer to work, it can be just as effective as over-the-counter medications. Making your own face treatment can also save you a lot of money. Like any essential oil, tea tree oil is very concentrated and should be used sparingly until you figure out how your skin reacts. Dryness, itching, redness and flaking may occur if you use too much. Tea tree oil may be dilluted in a base (like in the recipe below) to lesson the potential of these side-effects. Always use a high-grade brand of essential oil. You should never compromise quality when it comes to your health.
