History and Additional Information
Petitgrain essential oil comes from same tree as bitter orange and Neroli essential oils but uses different parts. Neroli is made from the flowers and bitter orange from the rinds of the fruit; petitgrain comes from the leaves. The name comes from the fact that this oil was originally made from very small (petit) fruit (grain). That practice was abandoned because if the fruit were allowed to mature, the yield of bitter orange essence was much stronger than desired.
