History and Additional Information
Most Eucalyptus trees are native to Australia, where they have long been known as a fast growing wood, and being the main dietary source for koalas. Later Eucalyptus oil was found to be efficient in removing symptoms of colic far better than other oils of the time. Based on this discovery, the essential oils of the eucalyptus were later investigated on commercial basis and found to contain medical and chemical properties. It is strongly associated with the popular medicine Vicks VapoRub.
The oil is made from the fresh leaves and the soft branch tops of the tree.
