Cilantro essential oil is used to cure disorientation and other ailments including inflammation, arthritis, gout and rheumatism. The oil is antibacterial and increases HDL cholesterol levels (the healthy cholesterol) and can also prevent and cure urinary tract infections. This oil is also known to reduce intestinal gas. It reduces menstrual cramping, painful menstruation and helps women get back on their normal menstrual cycle. It also has had success in curing anemia, nausea, and diarrhea.

History and Additional Information

In Asia, Mexico, South America and the Middle East, nearly all dishes cooked have some level of cilantro content. Some sprinkle the leaves on top of the dishes, while others only make use of the flavor with Mexico the highest beneficiary as it makes up the salsa which is mostly served there.

The specific origin of cilantro is not known, but studies by experts show the powerful herb as coming from the Near East and Southern Europe as during the period of discoveries, it was found out that these regions has the best quantity of wild Cilantro. This has been discovered to have grown in tombs of ancient Egypt. It is believed that Great Britain exported cilantro to the North Americans.
